During the Great Depression one summer I worked baby sitting and earned five cents per week. At the end of
the season I had eleven nickles. The Upholster Monger (peddler of fabric) came by in his mule driven wagon. I purchased two pieces of cloth to make dresses for school. One piece was blue with red apples and the other was pink with yellow ducks.
Over the years I told my children about how proud I had been to be able to work and make enough money to buy cloth to make my school clothes.
Over eighty years passed and this past Christmas my son Terry gave me two pieces of cloth, one blue with red apples and one pink with yellow ducks.
I am so blessed.
