Responsibility: The Woodpile

It was our responsibility to keep the wood box full of firewood. We did not have electricity until after WW II., We had to get up, get dressed eat breakfast and be ready to go to work at daylight (which came pretty early in the summer}. While mama and daddy cooked breakfast we would sit on the wood box behind the stove. I would dream about someday being able to sleep until 6 A.M.

Those were the "Good Old Days", life was hard but so simple. We didn't rely or expect someone else to provide food, shelter, transportation, medicine or emotional support. We did not complain, relied on God and supported our fellowman. We knew when to sow and when to reap.
